“A servant hero is one who touches the lives of others.”  

Maituturing din nating bayani ng bayan ang mga naninilbihan para sa kapakanan ng kabataan at komunidad. Isa na ritong halimbawa si Bb. Ailene B. Añonuevo, Chief Education Supervisor ng Schools Division of Panabo City, Davao Del Norte, na nanguna sa pagbuo ng proyekto para sa Indigenuous Community ng Lungsod ng Panabo. 

Sa mahigit tatlong dekada sa larangan ng edukasyon, itinuon ni Bb. Añonuevo ang kanyang adbokasiya sa pag-empower ng Lumad learners sa pamamagitan ng pagbigay ng accessible education.  

“These are public servants who turn regular tasks into a remarkable output. They have the desire to make a difference. They are catalysts of change, and leaders of servanthood and excellence. [Someone who] has a pure heart to serve other people,” ani Bb. Añonuevo mula sa kanyang panayam sa patungkol sa pagiging isang Civil Service Commission (CSC) Pagasa Awardee 2022. 

“Being a servant-hero does not only mean accomplishing big in the eyes of the public but even inside the office, we can see servant-heroes. When someone listens to a certain individual having trials in life, it could be a psychological or emotional one. A servant hero is one who touches the lives of others,” dagdag niya. 

Mula sa mayaman na karanasan sa edukasyon at dedikasyon sa pagsimula ng mga proyekto at mga partnership sa donors, binigyang-diin niya ang Balay Paglaum para sa Estudyanteng Lumad, isang proyektong kinilala ng CSC Pagasa Awards 2022 na bunga ng pananaliksik ukol sa nakakabahalang dropout rate IP learners dahil sa malalayong lugar ng kanilang mga eskuwelahan.  

Ang nasabing proyekto ay isang pasilidad na nakapagbigay sa Grades 7 to 12 learners ng temporary shelter pati na rin sa pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan na nakatulong sa pagkamit ng zero non-readers at zero dropout records, at ilang IP beneficiaries na nakatapos ng secondary education. 

Ibinahagi naman si Bb. Añonuevo ang kanyang mga natutuhang aral sa paggampan ng tungkulin bilang isang tagapagtaguyod ng edukasyon at lingkod bayan.   

“For those in the teaching profession, especially the younger generation, you will take time to really ascertain that your passion is on teaching, that your love is really for the children, and that you will perform your duties and responsibilities with integrity,” aniya.
