PASIG CITY, May 15, 2024 — In ensuring that learners will be able to access accurate information on Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) and Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH), the Department of Education (DepEd) conducted a virtual orientation promoting the use and significance of the Oky Philippines Menstrual Tracker Application.

DepEd together with the Department of Health (DOH), Commission on Population and Development (CPD), National Youth Commission (NYC), Regional Government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in partnership with Plan International and with the support of the Australian government, developed the Oky Philippines Period Tracker App, which was launched last May 26, 2023.

“The Oky app is more than just technology; it’s a bridge towards understanding. It is a tool for education and companion of countless young individuals navigating the complexities of adolescence,” Assistant Secretary for Operations Dexter A. Galban said.

Led by the Bureau of Learner Support Services (BLSS), through the School Health Division (SHD), the nationwide orientation was participated in by 468 Regional and Schools Division Office (SDO) ARH focals, selected Guidance Counselors, and Wash in Schools (WinS), Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) to explore the application’s features and benefits for tracking menstrual cycles.

During the orientation, the participants learned about the intuitive interface and user-friendly features of the application and how it utilizes advanced technology to provide accurate predictions and personalized insights into menstrual cycles.

Furthermore, the attendees learned how the application can streamline and access information about the menstrual cycles, sexual and reproductive health and rights, mental health, and relationships.

The said orientation also highlighted the planned roll-out of the application for the coming school year, including extending support for Oky promotional activities of SDOs and schools to reach learners, particularly girls and young women, in accessing accurate MHH/ASRH information.

The Oky Philippines Menstrual Tracker Application can now be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
