Philippine Educational Placement Test
The Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) is a nationally administered assessment for learners in special circumstances. The result of this assessment will allow these learners to: a) access or resume schooling and/or b) obtain certification of completion by grade level in the DepEd formal system.
Specifically, it aims to fulfill the following purposes:
- To establish that students have met learning standards for specific grade levels
- To determine the appropriate grade level of learners in special circumstances in the formal school system
- To assess competencies in academic areas gained through informal and nonformal means for entry or reentry into formal school
- To assess competencies in academic areas for entry or reentry to formal school
The test must not be used for grade-level acceleration but for the aforementioned purposes only. For grade-level acceleration, kindly refer to DepEd Order No. 40, s. 2002, “Accelerated Learning Program for Public Elementary Schools”.
Target Clients
The Bureau of Education Assessment – Education Assessment Division (BEA-EAD) accepts PEPT applications from the following:
a. Learners from non-formal and informal education programs
b. Learners who have incomplete or no record of formal schooling
c. Learners with back subjects
d. Learners who need grade level standards assessment
e. Learners who are overage for their grade levels
Requirements for New Test Registrants
1. The following are the PEPT documentary requirements for submission during test registration:
a. Original and one (1) photocopy of the birth certificate duly authenticated and issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) (formerly National Statistics Office) or by the Local Civil Registrar;
b. Original and one (1) photocopy of the permanent school record (e.g., SF10/Form 137) signed by the School Principal/Registrar/School Administrator; certificate of attendance in intervention programs, or any proof of schooling (if applicable);
c. Two (2) pieces identical and recently taken 1×1 colored ID pictures with name tags.
d. One (1) Accomplished PEPT Registration Form (1 copy)
2. Registration fee of two hundred pesos (PhP 200) per examinee.
Requirements for PEPT Retakers
1. The following are the PEPT documentary requirements for submission during test registration:
a. Original and one (1) photocopy of the PEPT Certificate of Rating (for applicants who need to retake a PEPT subtest)
Note:
- Examinees whose test score in one subject is lower than 75% may be allowed to retake the failed subtest within six months from the date of examination.
- Examinees whose test score in two or three subjects are lower than 75% are required to retake all the subtests.
b. Two (2) pieces identical and recently taken 1×1 colored ID pictures with name tags.
c. One (1) copy Accomplished PEPT Registration Form (1 copy)
2. Registration Fee of two hundred pesos (PhP 200) per examinee.
Mode of Registration
1. Walk-in
BEA-EAD accepts walk-in clients for test registration from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Fridays (excluding holidays).
2. Online
The client/learner or his/her parent/legal guardian shall fill out the PEPT Registration Form which is downloadable from http://bit.ly/PEPTForm.
The accomplished registration form and clear scanned PEPT documentary requirements must be uploaded to http://bit.ly/PEPTOnlineReg. The BEA-EAD staff will provide the next steps and payment procedures upon successful evaluation of registration forms and documentary requirements.
After confirming the payment, BEA-EAD will provide the Notice of Examination to the PEPT applicants’ registered email address.
Mode of Test Administration
1. Paper-based
The PEPT is administered as a paper-based assessment to all test registrants. Its administration shall be open for registration to walk-in registrants all year round.
2. Computer-based
As an alternative mode of administration, BEA offers the computer-based (CB) PEPT to the following:
a. PEPT applicants ages 6 to 9 years old who reside outside Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.
b. Clients with a current medical condition (supported by a medical certificate); and
c. Clients with exceptional cases.
The CB-PEPT is an online/internet-dependent platform. It shall be administered by an official proctor from the Bureau of Education Assessment via live remote proctoring. The test is taken by the PEPT applicant in his/her location provided that all requirements are met.
Releasing of Test Results
The test results are usually released within 5 working days after the successful conduct of the examination. PEPT applicants are advised to inquire about the availability of their results after 5 working days from the Verification Unit of the Bureau of Education Assessment – Education Assessment Division (BEA-EAD) through this email address: verification.bea@deped.gov.ph.

Special Test Administration of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) for Validation Purposes
The Special Test Administration of the PEPT for validation purposes is mandated per DepEd Order No. 55, s. 2016 Policy Guidelines on the National Assessment of Student Learning for the K to 12 Basic Education Program, section 6, item no. 5.2, Testing Centers and Test Administration Schedule” for learners who completed grade level/s in schools without a government permit. The purpose of the test administration is to validate if these learners met the learning standards for specific grade levels.
All takers for the special PEPT for validation purposes shall be given assessment at their respective schools’ division offices/centers per DepEd Order No. 23, s. 2019 “Additional Provision to Section 6: Grade Level Placement Assessment of DepEd Order 55, s. 2016,”Effective School Year 2019-2020.
Request for the Verification and Re-issuance of Certificate of Rating (COR)
This service is intended for clients who want to verify test results after the successful conduct of examination at the official testing centers or BEA-EAD in the DepEd Central Office and wish to be re-issued a duplicate copy of the Certificate of Rating (COR) and/or Certification of Authentication & Verification (CAV).
The verification and re-issuance of CORs are available for the following assessment programs:
a. Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT)
b. Accreditation and Equivalency Test (A&E)
c. National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE)
d. Qualifying Examination in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies (QEALIS)
e. Educational Management Test (EMT)
Mode of Request for Certificate of Rating (COR)
1. Walk-in
Walk-in clients may request a second copy of COR at the BEA Verification Room, Rm. 211, Mabini Bldg., DepEd Central Office from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays to Fridays (excluding holidays).
2. Online

Onsite Administration of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) and Other Regular Assessment Services
The Bureau of Education Assessment (BEA) announces the resumption of the onsite administration of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) to learners needing validation of grade level/s that were completed from schools without a permit. The resumption is consistent with DepEd Order No. 017, s. 2022, Guidelines on the Progressive Expansion of Face to Face Classes, and DepEd-DOH Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 01, s. 2021, Operational Guidelines on the Implementation of Face to Face Learning Modality.
